Pine Valley
Pine Valley’s name is familiar for American viewers who have flipped through golf or sports channels as it is listed as the premier course. The outstanding property, its hazards and greens make it famous. Founded by several golfers from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this golf course, like many others, offers an 18th hole that is on the grand scale.

For amateur golfers, Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey offers three options: Back, Regular and Senior. The final hole, designed on a grand scale, has a challenging, elevated tee shot that must carry over pine barrens down a fairway below on slopes that move gradually to the right.

Seminole
Located in Juno Beach, Florida, this club has recently hosted an event on television designed to help fight COVID-19. Among the renowned holes are the fourth, sixth and 13th.

Old Sandwich
Situated in Plymouth, Massachusetts, this club sits among the original colonies. Although it is not listed in the top 20 venues, it has a “starchy, old-school vibe” that many golfers prefer. A memorable and challenging hole is the island-like seventh green, surrounded by loose sand.

Shinnecock Hills
Having been the host for five U.S. Opens since 1986, this course in South Hampton, New York, is renowned for its architectural genius. A classic course has the flow across the property that demonstrates the hands-on, painstaking and creative designing of William Flynn from 1928-1931.

Merion East
In Ardmore, Pennsylvania, this course is renowned for the variety found in its courses as some are short (115 yards), while others are lengthy (236-256 yards). Constructed in 1912, Merion now has sib-air and irrigation systems that regulate the speed and firmness of the surfaces on which the ball is played.

Kiawah Island
A course known for causing trepidation in golfers, this course has a mix of tidal marshes, scrub-topped dunes, live oaks and the Atlantic waves audible on every hole. The second, third, 11th and 14th holes have been foreboding enough to the pros to be given a say in who wins the 2023 PGA Championship.
